I debated on sharing this but considering I referred a facebook group for ideas when I was panicking. So I want to share this story. Forgive me if it’s too long to read, sometimes people need a good toilet story and I hope to put a smile on your face
I’m currently stationary while we decide if moving to my new location is a good idea and if I like this job. To paint you a picture, my job of the camper is the duty of tanks, Because I’m here solo for a bit you could say I decided to also be “master of the tanks”.
Also known as: Don’t touch my tanks.
So I’ve watched hours of YouTube, and read multiple forums about these tanks and came up with a maintenance plan I like the most (Geo-method and dumping on Tuesday, flush tank till clear and 5 second flushes after all #2s) to my great surprise my husband came down and brought two stowaways…my two teenage sisters. It was not “Tank Tuesday or “Toilet Tuesday” but my husband decided the tank seemed full and needed to be dumped early by one day. You should know that I work overnight and get off at 6am. It was now 7pm and I still haven’t slept so I allowed him to dump it.
All went well, they stayed for five days. After they left we took a nap. At 7pm my husband informed that the girls had gone through two large rolls of TP (rv safe) and the tank was now clogged, told me if I had to pee, it was in the shower cause it was going to go up the pooper 😭😂🤣. We elected not to try the black water flush.
I am now mortified, and demoted myself to hose duty. How could this happen to my tanks!
We make the decision to run to camping world to get one of those fancy contraptions that sprays water back to the tank. I don’t believe in these…black tank bidets 🤣 but what else can we try? I ask him if we can snake it or get a hose wand and he looks mortified. We drive to camping world- they have none. We drive to a local rv dealership they literally have ONE. Shew. We get back to my beloved camper and it’s poor constipated tank and it’s DOWNPOURING. Here we are with this stupid contraption in the pouring rain. We get it hooked up with our gloves ready to go.
We open the trap, slight trickle, good sign. Considering the husband put enough rv toilet enzymes and dish soap In to make a slip and slide
Black tank “bidet” doesn’t make progress.
We don’t have the nice “last bit of poo ” valve at the end of the black tank yet (dealership gave us the wrong one) so we decide to hold up the sewer line and use the black tank bidet to create a rushing flow after the tank in hopes to create a bit of suction. After three attempts this does little to nothing. I go inside and at least notice that there’s a lot less water. I elect to try and add hot water and oxyclean (I’m out of borax)from the toilet end. This immediately clogs up.
Confused, I realize that the TP is now immediately right under the toilet causing the clog, I get a left over piece of trim from a project , shove it down the pooper only to realize, My husband never added ANY water back to the tank after dumping it AND ITS DRY AS A BONE. There’s no water coming out because there isn’t any! 🤣🤪. This caused an immediate two roll TP pyramid directly under the toilet. Once I broke it up and filled her up, flushed the tank two times and she was back to her old self and I got promoted to throne master again 🤣😁.
I can only hope someone reads this and doesn’t panic like we did.
Sometimes you just have to run through every thing you did to figure out the problem
